The Zine That Teaches You How to Love
Directed by Steven Spielberg
"Lost World" is a talky, dull follow up to cash-cow "Jurassic Park." Spielberg tries to distract the audience from the lack of forward momentum with lots of cartoony CGI dinosaurs. By far the best scene (so good it seems misplaced) is where dino-hugger, carrot-top Julianne Moore is stretched across a pane of cracking glass with a abysmal drop to the surf beneath her. Bucktoothed Jeff Goldblum dusts off his patented science-hipster persona for a fat payday and proto-man Pete Postlethwaite appears as a big game hunter who wants to bag a T. Rex, so it can be displayed at a new amusement park. Hey, I would go. Did Lewis Leakey ever get a load of Mr. Postlethwaite? What the dilly? Some graphic, chunk-blow inducing action can't save this snoozer. Thank god CGI wasn't available when "Jaws" was made! I'm just saying. -- Rating: $2.50
